Installation

Download a release for your platform, or build Krad ADE from source with the pinned Rust toolchain.

Krad ADE is a native desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux. It is in alpha: it works with Claude Code, opencode v2, Codex and any Gateway such as CLIProxyAPI.

Download a release

Every release has one download per platform. Installed release builds update themselves from later releases; see Updates.

Download krad-ade-<version>-aarch64-macos.dmg, a DMG for Apple Silicon Macs. Open it and install Krad ADE.app from it.

Install a harness

A chat runs on a harness. Install at least one as usual and sign in to it before you open the app:

HarnessProgram on PATHNotes
Claude CodeclaudeSigned in with your own login
opencode v2opencode1.x is not supported
CodexcodexSign in with codex login

Without any of them, a Gateway such as CLIProxyAPI, set in Settings › Gateway, is enough: Gateway chats run on the app's own agent and need no harness installed.

You also need git on PATH for groups, worktrees and the file tree.

Build from source

Install the requirements

  • The Rust toolchain pinned in rust-toolchain.toml, a nightly. rustup installs it on the first build.
  • On Linux, the usual GPUI dependencies: Vulkan drivers, libxkbcommon, and Wayland or X11 development headers.
  • On Windows, the x86_64-pc-windows-gnu toolchain with a MinGW GCC on PATH.

Clone and run

Terminal
git clone https://github.com/joordih/krad-ade.git
cd krad-ade
cargo run --release -p krad-app --bin krad-ade

Check the agents CLI

The release build places krad-ade-agents next to krad-ade. The app puts its own folder on the PATH of every terminal it opens, which is how agents find the agents bus CLI.

Builds from source do not update themselves. Only builds that carry the install marker krad-ade.install, which the release workflow adds, look for new versions.
